Expertise

Spinal malformations (e.g. basilar invagination, congenital scoliosis, tethered cord syndrome), spinal degenerative diseases (e.g. cervical spondylosis, lumbar disc herniation, spondylolisthesis), spinal tumors (e.g. chordoma, meningioma, schwannoma, metastatic spinal tumors), spinal trauma or spinal cord injuries, and spinal functional disorders.


Research Interests

Pathogenesis and surgical management of spinal malformations and deformities (e.g. assimilation of atlas, ossification of posterior longitudinal ligament), pathogenesis and treatment of chordoma, mechanisms and functional reconstruction of spinal cord injury.


Background

Prof. Chen Zan Chief Physician, Professor, Doctoral Supervisor. He graduated from medical school of Harbin Medical University in 2003 (with M.D. and Ph.D. degree), completed his residency in neurosurgery at the 2nd Hospital affiliated to Harbin Medical University in 2003. He completed his neuro-clinical training, micro-clinical training, and post-doctoral program from 2003 to 2006. In 2024, he started to be the director of the center of spine diseases. His team focus on diagnosis and treatment of spine malformations, degenerative diseases, tumors, trauma, and functional disorders. He has won several national, provincial, and municipal awards.
